Kona Coffee

Kona Coffe is a relative of the gardenia family, is one of the most important crops on the Big Island. Although other Hawaiian islands also produce coffee, only Kona coffee is of sufficient quality to be sold on the world market during the coffee production lines. In Kona Mauka (Kona Highlands) there are many coffee farms and roasting plants that give tours, such as the Captain Cook Coffee Company in Kainaliu.

Hawaii is the only American producer of commercially grown coffee and Kona coffee is still really rare. Today's Kona coffee industry is made up of an interlocking group of independent small farmers, coffee roasters, and traders. Of the perhaps 600 coffee farms in Kona, most are 2-3 acres in size. Kona coffee is grown on more than 2,000 acres in an area 20 miles long and 2 miles wide on the slopes of the Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanoes, between 500 and 3,000 feet in elevation; annual coffee production is generally more than two million pounds.

Great product even better service!

The folks of Coffee Gallery are truly awesome. Had the good fortune of visiting the shop and enjoying one of the best lattes to date! I ended placing an order for several different roasts when I returned to the mainland. My order arrived quickly and included everything I ordered plus a few 4 oz additional type of roasts thrown in for good measure. Coffee Gallery also included a super cool bag with their logos and a hand written not thanking me for my order. Who does that these days? Thank you Coffee Gallery! Will be ordering again real soon.

Take me back to Haleiwa

Absolutely love it. I had the best coffee experience during our first visit to the islands, at the coffee gallery in Haleiwa back in 2016. We stayed in the North shore and would visit the gallery almost every day. Probably had a lot to do with the fact that we also got married on the island! In any case, a cup of Kona, Wailua roast or other north shore blend will instantaneously take me back.

This coffee is amazing! I have been looking something like it

This coffee is amazing! I have been looking for something to replace my coffee of 20 years, Starbucks Breakfast Blend. I usually make an Americano with a Barista Express. This coffee has a high-note aroma I can't quite put my finger on--almost a passion fruit. It is similar to really good breakfast blend or other arabica light-medium roast, but with an exotic kick. To make a perfectly balanced (for me) Americano/espresso, I combine these beans with Lavazzo's Super Crema. The super crema gives me the rich cream taste and full body-medium roast that supports the aromatic Kauai beans. PERFECT!
